Recommended Reading: Asylum claims related to sexual orientation and gender identity in the EU

The LGBTI NGO COC Netherlands and the VU University Amsterdam presents  their new research report “Asylum claims related to sexual orientation and gender identity in the EU”. The report focuses on the problematic of LGBT refugees, who a persecuted because their sexual orientation / gender identity in their home countries and seek asylum in Europe.

About the project
Each year, thousands of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) asylum seekers apply for asylum in EU Member States. During the Fleeing Homophobia project, Sabine Jansen (COC) and Thomas Spijkerboer (VU University Amsterdam) have undertaken a comparative research about how these applications have been dealt with. Further to their findings, they have formulated policy recommendations.
